Sooo we've been doing all of that, give us a pat on the back! However, it has slowed down a lot, hence the lack of posts. We've really mostly been doing things involving this:

OH! And the article that we talked about (at least, I think we did...?) Anyway, it came out! Those of you in the area, pick up the Spring 2011 Land and Home. And those of you NOT in the area... that sucks, but if you're super nice, I might be convinced to post a copy of it... someday.

As A said, we went "peddling" in Taos on Saturday, basically to check out which stores might be interested in seeing some of our designs and whatnot. We found several that weren't exactly our style... so we didn't ask them lol. We don't want to sell people things that don't market to their particular audience.

However! We found a few (more than we thought, actually) that were right up our "alley." We only talked to a few because we're shy people - it's true! - but we'll be heading back sometime in the near future to re-peddle. Today I emailed a few of the stores with pictures and whatnot, hoping that they'll LOVE IT and want to see more. And the emails included this address... So store-owners, if you're reading this, THANK YOU for visiting the blog, THANK YOU for reading the email, and THANK YOU for your time :) And also, note my excellent grammar. Thank you again!

So we've been working, since yesterday, on a TOP SECRET design... for a friend ;) Granted, I'm not sure she reads the blog, so it may not matter if I post a picture... but the finished product will make it to the blog eventually. In fact... I should really be working on that right now... hmmm... eh.

As I was rooting through my closet for all the things I've worked on in the past, I found something I'd forgotten all about that I made for A (before she got pregnant. It kind of put a hold on the dress, then I forgot about it lol):

Apologies... the picture was taken with my blackberry... because it's the only thing I can seem to keep track of these days ;) And it doesn't really fit the mannequin, but it's super-cute.

This is the back... haha! This is the part that I forgot the finish. I need to put a zipper in, but I lost my zipper foot and when I bought a new one... well, it doesn't fit. So I'll have to borrow one... Julie! ;)

So I think that's all that has been going on. Boring boring boring.

OH. WAIT. 

NOT!!

We made our first sale today! Thank you, Etsy.com and Samantha! We began listing items, taking photos, and looking into business-marketing, etc. in late January, and now, about a month and a half later, we've made a profit! That's exciting news, folks!  So here's to many more sales and lots of money flowing in to make me a millionaire!

SO kidding. I just want to be able to make a living doing what I love! But I AM super excited, it feels like the beginning. I even took a picture of the screen with my phone (but you can't see that).

TAOS, by A!

SO! We went... peddling. In Taos. It was awesome! We went to some shops to see which ones would buy rockin' recycled vintage clothes from local artists... kinda like us. At first, we were too nervous to say anything. But after a few stores, we got such a great response from the first owner we had the nerve to talk to, we kept going. So now we have a few potential buyers who seem very interested in putting our clothes in their store! AAAHHH!!!

You should see my face as I write this, though. I really am excited, but I'm so tired after lugging Gideon to all the before-mentioned stores - Mom was gonna watch him, but she's sick with the sickness going around Jessi mentioned - I can't really crack a smile. I'm sure I'll wake up tomorrow giddy, but right now... I'm more excited about going to bed lol. So it's like:

                                                                    "I'm so excited."

(On a side note, Jessi and I never realized how upset we would be if Jim Carrey died. We read on facebook he might be dead, and we both got sinking feelings in our stomachs and had to look it up to see. Turns out it was a hoax... But then we got all teary-eyed thinking about how Jim Carrey would die someday! Yeah - WOW.)

Stupid computer.

Stupid, stupid, stupid. I already typed this once, but it got killed. Ah, well, here I go again.
A! who had to leave the interview early...

Well, I was singing "Maqueraaaaaade! Painted faces on paraaade!..." in my head during the interview, but I think it went well anyway. We sat around Jessi's table drinking tea and talking about... well, everything. Reading this blog, you probably know we talk a lot. =)

Feeling like a celebrity was fun! ("Where's my trailer?? I need water. Fill my trailer with water!") Our aunt Julie, who was also being interviewed, brought her kids, which made everything less stressful. After her three year old called us, including the interviewer, "cute", it was impossible to be tense.

Anyway, the article should be out in a week or two (I think?). Once my more... computer-literate sister posts something new, I'm sure she'll include a link to the magazine's website.

Also, in case you were still wondering, here's the reason I had to leave the interview early:

That title should do it's job- making us sound faaancy!

This is Jess (Jessi, Jessie, Jessica...) and I noticed it had been awhile since we'd posted, and I felt bad. So here I am! Ready to entertain! Or... you know, just write.

Saturday, after a week of poking holes in my fingers because I had to hand-stitch a purse I was making (I really need to get pics up, eh?!), we were finally ready for our first debut. It wasn't gigantic, just a local "this is what your talented community can do" sort of thing. It was called "Sidelines" and my dad was there with his art, as well as my aunt with her jewelry, and my brother-in-law-once-removed [I think] with his photography. See? We couldn't help but grow up and make stuff!
We didn't sell anything, but we weren't surprised since our clothes are pretty unpractical in this area. Especially since that day we got an unexpected 6" of snow... So we were happy to have some exposure and met with a local magazine and a local newspaper. Hopefully that gets us a step closer to being famous and awesome. Except that we're already awesome :-D

So I took a picture of the exhibit with my BlackBerry, but I'm really not sure what the resolution will do on the internet, plus it wasn't excellent lighting, so alas I shall just leave you with one of the 500 pictures we took with my lovely and talented aunt. This is our design and our lovely model Denise :)

80s-esque (but better) jacket made out of grossly-overly-decorated 80s dress. No picture could do it's funkiness justice. It's just plain amazing. And shiny! Who could want more?! It's got fantastic frayed edges on the bottom that kind of make up for all the overwhelming sequins- we don't want TOO much fanciness. Check it on Etsy! More pictures will be up soon, promise!
